Hannover Way Accident: Driver arrested after a man in his thirties died in a collision in Sheffield

A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing by dangerous driving following a car accident on Hanover Street in Sheffield last night.

Yesterday, Thursday, December 9th, at around 9:00 p.m., a black Toyota MR2 was driving on Hanover Way towards the Moore Street roundabout as it exited the street before boarding the subway at the junction with Headford Street came to a standstill.

No parking planned for sidewalks in Sheffield city center

Sheffield Council has announced plans to ban parking in the city center.

The proposed Traffic Ordinance (TRO) will make it illegal to stop at any time on a path or shoulder around most streets in the center of the city.

A notice posted on the Council’s website suggests that the ban will be introduced from next year, but no exact date has been given.

“This type of parking is reckless, puts pedestrians and cyclists using a cycle path at risk, and limits accessibility,” said city officials.

New vote after talks to end the bus strike at Stagecoach

Passengers will find out today whether the Stagecoach bus drivers have voted for a new salary offer to end further strikes.

The bus company says it made an improved offer that the Unite union is making to drivers.

A second weeklong strike is slated to begin this Sunday, December 12th, in case the new deal is denied.

Roads closed after the car went off the lane

Several streets in Sheffield city center had to be closed after a car ran off the lane near the Hannover Way underpass.

The police said that the incident involved a single car that left the lane on the ring road shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday evening.
