Six people were injured after a serious collision between a car and a truck on the M60.
The incident occurred shortly after 7.30 p.m. on the counterclockwise section of the motorway between junctions 16 and 17.
A woman was seriously injured and trapped in her car so that the fire department had to cut her out.
All traffic stopped shortly thereafter and many drivers had queued for more than three hours tonight, December 19th.

Cars got stuck in the lockdown until after 10:30 pm, one person called it the “scariest aftermath” of an accident they’d ever seen.
According to the fire department, numerous 999 calls were made by people who were stuck in the growing traffic jam.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7:30 pm tonight, firefighters from the Whitefield, Agecroft and Broughton Fire Stations and Ashton Technical Rescue Unit responded counterclockwise to the first of many 999 traffic collision calls on the M60 between junctions 17 and 16.
“Two vehicles are involved and four people are injured. One person was trapped in a damaged vehicle but was rescued by the fire department. “

People trapped in the lockdown angrily went to Twitter after emergency services were banned from drivers using the blocked lanes.
Others complained that “hundreds” of drivers used the closed lanes and hard shoulder to escape the queues.
One person tweeted, “That on the M60 could be the scariest aftermath of a car crash I’ve ever seen!
On the M60 counterclockwise, the queues are stuck for more than three hours
“There are 12 police cars, eight fire engines and one car crashed into the median, without a roof, without an engine block, nothing. The traffic is stuck in traffic for miles!”
Another added, “All of the injured, I hope you have a good recovery, and all of these idiots who put more people at risk by not sticking to the very big red Xs like that.”
Police confirmed that five people had suffered minor injuries and one woman was rushed to hospital with more severe injuries.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police Department said:
“Officials, accompanied by ambulance and fire services, discovered that one woman was seriously injured while five others were minor injuries.
“The public is advised to avoid this section of the highway as there will be significant delays due to the incident.”
