Son of former soccer players Bury, Bolton and Rochdale dies after a car accident

The son of a former Bolton Wanderers, Bury and Rochdale football player, has died in a car accident.

Liam Valentine died in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, in the early hours of Saturday morning (August 7th).

The 26-year-old was the son of Peter Valentine, who played as a defender in the 1980s and 1990s, including eight years at Gigg Lane.

Liam would have celebrated his 27th birthday on Thursday, August 19, reports Yorkshire Live.

West Yorkshire police said they arrived at the crime scene on Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor after 3:40 on Saturday and found a man lying on the street.

A short time later he was pronounced dead. The police are investigating the incident.

Richard Camenzuli, Managing Director of Industry Security UK Ltd, said he has employed Liam since he was 20 years old.

In a tribute published on Sunday evening, the company said, “The terrible news is this tragedy of one of our nicest guys!

“Always smiles to everyone and so many friends from our management teams and brothers and sisters who work together are our hearts with the friends and family of this really nice guy!”

Richard added, “He started working for us when he was 20 and was a valued member of our team for several years, although he stopped working for a while.

“He should start with us again this week. He was a nice boy, a really nice boy who just loved to work.

“He was one of those people you never had to worry about, always very friendly and smiling. I can’t talk enough about him.”

Liam’s father Peter, who played nearly 500 Football League games, also played for Huddersfield Town and Carlisle United.

A Huddersfield Town FC spokesman said: “This is terrible news. Of course, all thoughts at the club during this absolutely terrible time are with Peter and his family.”
