Student left with a £ 4,800 dental bill after a man dragged her into the car and hit her

A university student’s front teeth were knocked out during a terrible ordeal in which a man dragged her into a car and beat her.

Reegan Kay wants to raise awareness of issues related to women’s safety after being attacked on the way home with a friend.

The 21-year-old passed out after a man in a Mercedes approached her, dragged her into a car and described her as a “slag” after being hit.

She said a separate group of men chanted her soccer slogans as she lay on the sidewalk before the driver sped away. Her friend brought Reegan to A&E.

Reegan, a student of English literature at the University of Bristol, is now faced with a bill of £ 4,800 to replace her tooth, which was broken to the root and had to be removed.

The freshman is understandably paranoid about the incident and says, “I haven’t been anywhere alone since. I don’t go to the store or anything. I always have someone to stay with me.

“I get paranoid. I look at everyone and think they have bad intentions.

“After that, I thought it wouldn’t have happened if I smiled at them, or was nicer to them, or was with a male friend.

“There was a time after that when I felt so stupid and embarrassed. It really affected my self-esteem.”

Durham-based Reegan shared her ordeal on a Twitter post that has since received more than 3,000 likes to publicize violence against women.

She said, “I wanted to show that this happened to me and that it wasn’t right.

“Women should know that there is nothing to be ashamed of and that they don’t deserve it.

“We have to talk about it – it is shrouded in so much shame. It doesn’t just happen in a distant country, it happens every night on British roads.

“I don’t know a single girl who hasn’t been clearly said, groped, or yelled at by a man.

“These girls have brothers and fathers who don’t know what’s going on.”

Reegan now has to pay a £ 4,800 dental bill

Reegan was returning to their Bristol University accommodation with a friend after attending a student union women’s event when the attack on Sept.

Describing the ordeal, she said, “We were 15 seconds from our front door and a car stopped next to us and they started yelling at us to get in the car.

“We stopped because we were scared. They asked where we were going and we said, ‘No, that’s scary, you shouldn’t do that to young girls’.

“The next thing I know, the guy grabbed my dress, dragged me into the car and hit my face, and I was passed out.”

After the attack, Reegan said the man called her “slag” because she was lying unprotected on the floor.

She said a separate group of men started chanting soccer slogans to her before her friend took her in and drove the car away.

Reegan was in the emergency room and receiving treatment until the following afternoon.

Commentary was sought from Avon and Somerset Police – although it is believed no arrests have been made in relation to this incident.
