Summary: A5 blocked after trucks and cars in a “serious” incident near Hockliffe

Bedfordshire Police said the incident was “debris is believed to have fallen from one of the vehicles” and they were not directly involved in a collision.

SUMMARY OF WHAT WE KNOW:

A truck and car incident blocked the A5 in both directions.

National Highways say it is closed between the A4012 (Hockliffe) and the A505 (Chalk Hill) after “a serious incident involving a truck and car”.

Bedfordshire Police said the incident was “debris is believed to have fallen from one of the vehicles” and they were not directly involved in a collision.

East of England Ambulance Service is present and National Highways are on hand to help.

The road is expected to remain closed for the entire afternoon.

Road users are advised to anticipate disruptions and allow additional time for their journey.

INRIX travel observers said the lockdown extends from the A505 to Harvester with traffic jams to Dunstable as well as routes through Houghton Regis.

At this point it is not clear if anyone has been injured.
