The police were called to the A171 in Pond Hill at 11:10 am after the accident involving two cars.
One of the cars – a gray Hyundai i30 – landed on its roof.
Officers said neither the people in the Hyundai nor those in the other car involved – a red Citroen C1 – were seriously injured.
The road was closed for about three hours while the emergency services worked on site and the vehicles were recovered.
Police said cars caught in traffic jams were turned over and described the weather conditions as “wintry”.
