BEIJING – US-listed electric car start-up Li Auto reported more deliveries than Xpeng in June, finishing last of the month among a closely-followed trio of Chinese automakers.
Li Auto said Friday that it shipped 7,713 units of its only model on the market, the Li One SUV, last month. The Chinese start-up said the number hit a new monthly high. Li One is more of a hybrid as it comes with a fuel tank to charge the battery and increase range.
Xpeng said its June shipments also set a monthly record of 6,565 vehicles. The company said the most deliveries were for its P7 sedan compared to its G3 SUV.
On Thursday, Nio said deliveries for June hit 8,083 cars – also a monthly record. The total for the second quarter was thus close to the upper end of Nio’s forecast.
Nio ranks first among the three Chinese electric car startups listed in the US by monthly shipments, while Xpeng usually ranks second.

Xpeng’s decline to third place in June comes as the New York Stock Exchange-listed company will launch a “double primary listing” in Hong Kong on July 7th that could raise up to $ 2 billion.
The company has two more vehicles slated for delivery later this year, an updated version of the G3 called the G3i SUV and a new sedan, the P5.
Despite finishing third in June in monthly deliveries, Xpeng beat the high end of its second quarter forecast by nearly 1,400 vehicles.
But Li Auto exceeded its quarterly forecast by more than 2,000 vehicles.
