Vandal launches garbage can on car as residents say the area is becoming “like a war zone”

Wyken thugs wreaked havoc in the area this week.

The footage, captured on Tuesday evening (November 23), shows two people walking down residential streets indiscriminately destroying cars. Clips show what looks like two men kicking outside mirrors and throwing garbage cans.

The killing spree enraged local residents, with one saying that parts of the area are unfortunately “getting worse” and calling it “like a war zone”.

Footage captured on Wykeley Road shows one of the perpetrators lifting a garbage can and throwing it onto a parked vehicle.

On a separate clip, you can hear a popping noise every few seconds before you see someone come on the screen and start up a wing mirror of another parked car.

One resident, Mick Short, told CoventryLive, “Why you should do this is a mystery to me – you were probably crazy about something.

“This part of Wyken is getting worse and worse with car thefts, sheds, home break-ins and drug deals on the corners.

“We never see a police patrol and some nights it’s like being in a war zone. Even when you stand in the back garden, some nights you can only smell grass.

“There are two massive dents on my roof. Nothing seems safe anymore.”

Another local resident, Dave Hall, said, “My wife’s car was finished. The mirrors of about five cars on our street were broken. You can imagine what I think of those responsible.”

Both residents said they did not tell the police because they felt it was a “waste of time”.

West Midlands Police have been asked to comment on the matter.
