Woman arrested in connection with a car accident in Blyth in which a man was fighting for his life

Police are looking for witnesses after a serious clash in Blyth on Friday night in which a man with life-threatening injuries was hospitalized.

At around 8:20 p.m., police received a report of an accident involving four vehicles on the A193 Cowpen Road near the makeshift road works outside Cowpen Cemetery.

So far it is known that the driver of a gray Ford Focus was heading west when – for reasons not yet clear – he collided with a beige Skoda Octavia that was parked on the same side of the street.

This first collision then hit two other stationary vehicles, also heading west.

The 28-year-old Ford Focus passenger was admitted to the RVI in Newcastle with life-threatening injuries, where he is in critical but stable condition.

The man’s family has been informed and is being assisted by officials.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident and is still in police custody.

Sergeant Steven Chappell of the Force’s Motor Patrols team said, “This is a very serious collision in which a man in the hospital fought for his life.

“The investigation is ongoing and the police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the collision or the moments that led up to it. We’re especially excited to hear from anyone with dashcam footage capturing what happened. “
