Woman drove down M4 with the pole sticking out of her car

A woman crashed into the curb of the M4 and then drove down the freeway with a mast sticking out of her car.

When Georgia Williams damaged the roadside near Exit 33 (Capel Llanilltern), sparks flew. When the police found the 23-year-old at a gas station, she refused to do a breath test.

Williams, of Bridgend, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court Tuesday. Record holder David Harris said she was arrested after a witness noticed she was strangely driving in the early hours of October 23.

“You appeared to be driving along the curb that was caught in the front wheel arch of the car you were driving,” he told Williams when convicting her.

“Either the remains of the curb or the rim of the front wheel where the damage had occurred sparked. You drove. The person who saw you drove too and wanted to know if you needed help.

“It seemed to her that you were drunk. They declined any offer of help, so she got back in the car and called the police. They had driven a little further and gone to a gas station. The remains of a roadside post protruded from the vehicle’s wheel arch. Your front tire was badly damaged. “

As the officers approached Williams, they felt like she was drunk. They took a breath sample that showed 93 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of their breath. The legal limit is 35 mcg.

“You became violent,” said Recorder Harris. “You were asked to sit in a police vehicle and you refused. One of the officers grabbed your arm to be handcuffed and you resisted. You were brought to the ground, eventually handcuffed, and the officers had to pick you up and put you in the cage in the police car. “

Georgia Williams leaves Cardiff Crown Court

Williams from Llys Eglwys refused to give another sample to complete the breath test. She pleaded guilty to the crime, defied a police officer and violated a suspended sentence.

The defendant was on trial only three weeks before the new offenses. She had been sentenced to a 21-month sentence of 18 months for possession of Class A drugs with the intention of delivery and, on two other occasions, for offering to offer Class A drugs.

Recorder Harris said Williams had sought psychiatric treatment for mental health issues like depression and anxiety. She has also battled PTSD since “life-threatening” sepsis in 2017 that “left psychological scars,” he added.

He said to her, “I am pleased with your mental disorder and the efforts you have made to receive treatment.”

The judge ruled not to activate the original suspended sentence, which means Williams can continue her course of cognitive behavioral therapy. He was sentenced to three months in prison for the new offenses and suspended for twelve months.

Williams, who is unemployed and living with her mother, has to serve a four-month curfew overnight. She is banned from driving for three years and her driver’s license is confirmed. She has to pay a sacrificial service surcharge of £ 128.
