Angry Grandma, 57, says she had to wash her car for “weeks” after it was covered in sticky tree sap

An angry grandma has revealed that she had to scrub her treasured Peugeot for FIVE weeks thanks to sticky tree sap.

Janice Daly, 57, has requested that the North Ayrshire Council cut down the trees she parks her car on as they have caused her a lot of trouble.

“It’s just ridiculous,” Janice told the Daily Record. “The car is now covered and very sticky.

“It’s really hard to get the juice out of the car; I’ve been scrubbing and scrubbing for weeks.”

However, the Scottish Council has advised Ms Daly that the problem with the trees is seasonal and that they would only be felled in exceptional circumstances.

“The council sent an arborist, but they said they wouldn’t cut the trees. It made me so angry, “she said.

“One of the trees covers a huge area.

“One of the boys who came out to inspect told me to cut the trees myself, but they are on parish so I can’t.

“I feel like I just have to sit and suffer and worry as the darker nights are coming soon and the tree covers the street lamp as well.”

Unfortunately, Ms. Daly cannot move her car as she already has a camera installed outside her home so she can keep an eye on her vehicle.

The grandmother of five even said that debris from the tree got in through the air conditioning in her car and created more problems for her.

The 57-year-old, who works as a carer, says she uses her car every day for her work.

But she said that because of her arthritis, she is struggling to keep it clean.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesman said: “As a general rule, we will not do tree pruning or removal work in direct response to natural or seasonal events such as sap excretion (honeydew).

“Only in exceptional cases and when all other possible solutions have been exhausted is a tree pruning or removal possible.

“While we understand that this may cause temporary inconvenience to affected car owners, juice leakage is generally not considered dangerous and can be removed from vehicles.”
