Bargate in Grimsby reopens after an ambulance and a car accident

A main street in Grimsby was closed between a car and an ambulance after an accident.

Humberside police said there was a serious accident in Bargate on Sunday night.

The road between Westward Ho and Brighowgate was closed in both directions for a little over two hours.

The crash occurred near the Wheatsheaf pub. Both the car and the ambulance were damaged and an accident victim is believed to have been treated on the spot.

Police tweeted: “Please note the following road closure due to a road collision in Grimsby.

“Bargate Westwood Ho’s detour from Bargate to Brighowgate Intersection is completely closed.”

They later confirmed that the road had reopened and wrote, “We are pleased to announce that the Bargate Westward Ho detour from Bargate to Brighowgate Intersection is now fully open. Thank you for your patience as we go dealt with this incident. “
