Car found in flames in Edinburgh City Park in connection with a robbery in Edinburgh when the area was cordoned off by police

A car linked to a robbery was found in flames in an Edinburgh park, with the area cordoned off by police.

The emergency services stopped for Lochend Park, Edinburgh at around 12:20 p.m. on Friday, January 7th.

Residents in the area were stunned when fire departments and police flooded the area.

A local resident told the Daily Record that he had heard of the “bang” scene where the Volkswagen Tiguan was on fire.

A cordon was erected after the incident.

Police have now confirmed they are investigating after the burned-out car was linked to a robbery on Leven Street less than two hours before the fire.

Apparently no one was injured in the fire.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “The Edinburgh police are investigating after a Volkswagen Tiguan caught fire in Lochend Park at around 12:20 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022.

“The vehicle had previously been involved in a robbery at an address on Leven Street at around 11pm on Thursday, January 6th.

“The investigation into the incidents is ongoing and anyone with information should call 101 and cite Incident 3131, January 6th.”
