CAR MISSED BUILDINGS AFTER PLOWING THROUGH FENCE – Iceland Echo

A car narrowly avoided hitting a building on the St. Mary’s Hospital site after crashing through a wooden fence this morning (Sunday).

Police are currently present at the Forest Road junction of the wider St Mary’s Junction in Newport where a Peugeot 206 CC crashed.

It is assumed that the driver of the vehicle did not cross the right-hand bend on the forest road, which resulted in the car climbing the sidewalk and driving head-on through a wooden fence – stopping just a few meters from the corner of a building.

No one was injured in the collision with a single vehicle and no arrests were made.

The car is now being recovered by Stag Lane Motors and a lane closure is in place to facilitate this.

Isle of Wight NHS Trust staff investigate the damage to the border fence.
