No injuries after car collision with Langley bank building

VANCOUVER – A driver and worker at a Langley bank were lucky enough to get away unharmed after a car crashed into a building Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at Coast Capital Savings at the intersection of 200th Street and 41st Avenue.

Pictures of the scene show a gray Hyundai sedan housed in the bank, a wooden pillar separated from the building’s covered walkway and resting on the vehicle’s rear window.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics all responded to the scene, but according to Langley RCMP Sgt. Barry Beales.

Beales said the driver of the car mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals and “jumped the curb”.

He said collisions between vehicles and buildings can sometimes result in parking tickets for drivers, but the responding officers look at the “entirety of the situation” to determine if there is a crime.

No tickets were issued as a result of the crash on Saturday, Beales said.
