Car spotted driving upside down on M1

Several people reported the vehicle to police after it was seen driving on the M1 near Portadown.

It is assumed that an older man may have been driving.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police received a number of reports of a car that was driven in the wrong direction on the M1 motorway near Junction 11 in Lurgan around noon on June 7th.

“The officers located the car and successfully removed it from the lane without further incident.”

Meanwhile, in another incident at 2 p.m. this afternoon, a car caught fire on the M1 near Junction 11.

The PSNI announced that the NI Fire and Rescue Service has been called. There were long backlogs and the PSNI were involved in the traffic service.

The car was recovered around 3:30 p.m.
