Car stolen in Darlington due to rising break-ins

A CAR was stolen from a Darlington property in a spate of break-ins over the weekend.

Police believe the incident was linked to multiple vehicle thefts in the Springfield area at Bamburgh Place, Belsay Walk, Corbridge Crescent, Daryngton Close, Hardwick Close, Lyonette Road, Rockwell Avenue and Wallington Way between Saturday and Sunday could be.

Durham Constabulary said a gray Vauxhall Astra was picked up outside a house on Rockwell Avenue sometime overnight between Saturday July 31 and Sunday August 1.

The police also received six reports of car break-ins and theft of items such as money and bank cards.

Haughton and Springfield City Councilor Nick Wallis urged affected residents to call 101 to report the crimes.
