CarShop expands the fourth used car supermarket in Yorkshire with the Haifax Express Store

The Sytner Group’s used car supermarket division, CarShop, will open a new location near Halifax, bringing the number of locations in Yorkshire to four.

The expanding operation will officially expand its former Car People facilities in Wakefield, Sheffield and Doncaster, County with the opening of the 14,520 square foot building on November 1st. on Halifax Road, Shelf, previously used by a Sytner Volkswagen franchise company.

The latest addition to CarShop follows the opening of CarShop Express Leicester and CarShop Express Leighton Buzzard in May two months ago.

She now lists 14 locations on her website.

CarShop CEO Nigel Hurley said that CarShop Express Halifax combines “the best of our express business concept with the best of our core business offering”.

“As with our other two express stores, customers can browse our thousands of makes and models online before bringing a car to the store for test drive or collection – completely free of charge.

“But now you can also stop by CarShop Express Halifax to browse the range of the store with 70 cars on site – all of which have been handpicked for the region.”

CarShop said the opening of CarShop Express Halifax created fifteen new jobs, including a store manager, operations manager, customer service advisor, eight express specialists and two service technicians.

The roles of an account administrator and a vehicle technician are still advertised on the CarShop career page.

Paul Harnett, General Manager at CarShop Express Halifax Paul Harnett, the former General Manager of CarShop Manchester, who has worked for CarShop since 2016, will take over the position of General Manager of the Express Store.

“It is exciting to be involved in the opening and running of CarShop Express Halifax – the first store of its kind in the UK to combine both the express experience with the main store offering,” said Harnett.

“I’m really looking forward to taking on a new challenge and using my experience to make the store as successful as possible.”

Hurley said the timing was “perfect” for CarShop to grow in Yorkshire.

He said, “CarShop Wakefield has been the area’s most popular used car destination for over two decades and now, with the opening of CarShop Express Halifax, we’re bringing a fresh new offering to a region that has served us so well.”

Hurely added that CarShop’s growth path “is not going to stop anytime soon.”
