A man from Blaenau Ffestiniog who deliberately set his car on fire said he was grateful to those who donated to buy a new one.
Osian McDonnell’s car was set on fire Thursday March 18. Two days later, his cousin Angela Lloyd set up a GoFundMe page to help Osian with another car. At the time of publication, the total is over £ 700.
Osian said, “I feel hurt that someone might do this to me, and I am very upset that the police are not investigating. However, I am very grateful to everyone who took the time and donated to help me buy another car. “
Angela said, “Osian recently turned 18 and received his trust money. He decided to buy his first car. However, he lost his car in arson and unfortunately could not afford the insurance yet, but saved up for it!
“We’re all so upset with him and people in the community have suggested crowdfunding so Osian can replace his lost car. Blaenau Ffestiniog is a very close community. It’s nice to see when something happens here. People are always ready to help in any way they can. “
A North Wales Fire and Rescue spokesman said, “We received a late fire call at 3:55 pm about a car fire [on Thursday, 18 March] and an officer attended. It was believed that the fire was started on purpose. “
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “The incident was reported to us on March 18th at 8:30 am.
“Because of the remote location, there was no way to conduct a door-to-door investigation, no video surveillance, and no witnesses. “As a result, we were unfortunately unable to identify a suspect at the time.
