Coronation Street fans weren’t expecting an exciting twist in which soap darling Leanne Battersby was involved in Friday night’s epic double soap bill.
Leanne, played by Jane Danson, has lived for months under the threat of the fearsome drug lord Harvey Gaskell.
She had to work for the twisted Harvey after her adoptive son Simon Barlow started selling drugs so he could make ends meet after the death of her three-year-old son Oliver.

She eventually turned him over to the police after agreeing to participate in a witness protection program, but the soap villain planned his revenge behind bars.
On Monday night, he escaped from a prison car that collided with the Alahan family car in a storm and chased Leanne in Weatherfield.
After Harvey chased her, it looked like he was going to kill Leanne with a wrench until he was swallowed by a sinkhole.

The character played by Will Mellor then found Abi Franklin’s gun after pursuing teenage killer Corey Brent.
He broke into Leanne and Nick Tilsley’s apartment and opened fire to kill Leanne, but instead shot Natasha Blakeman.
A frightened Leanne sped outside and got in the car only to see Harvey sitting next to her.
At first it looked like Leanne was going to drive the car like Harvey had told her to.
But in an unexpected turn of events, she jumped it right in, knowing the passenger airbag wasn’t on.
Harvey was knocked unconscious and the final onlookers heard that his pulse was weak, which means he is not dead yet.
Fans cheered her character change, saying it reminded her of the spirited Leanne who arrived on the Corrie cobblestones with the Battersby clan in 1997.
“There’s the Battersby that we know and LOVE !!!! He’s cheering on TV right now, ”tweeted a viewer.

“I love Leanne’s fiery Battersby site,” exclaimed another.
“Hahaha omg Leanne !! She is brilliant, isn’t she?” another spectator gasped.
