Delhi: MBA student arrested at Connaught Place for stealing car

A 22-year-old MBA student from a private university in Noida was arrested for allegedly stealing a car from the parking lot at Connaught Place.

DCP (New Delhi District) Deepak Yadav said the defendant had been identified as Shresth Kumar, a resident of the Basant Road railway colony. He is a freshman and his father is a railroad worker. “He wanted a lavish life and started stealing cars by posing as the owner,” he added.

On July 28, they received a PCR call from a Jitesh informing police that he had parked his Hyundai Creta in CP’s K-block parking lot, but when he returned after finishing his work, he found that his car was handed over to someone else by the parking attendant. “The fraudster informed the park staff that his parking receipt had been misplaced and picked up the car from there. We immediately submitted an FIR to the Connaught Place Police Station and started our investigation, ”said Yadav.

The police formed several teams and asked them to scan surveillance cameras. Another team also informed the parking attendants about the approach taken by the defendants. Kumar came out of the H Block parking lot on August 5 to steal another car. “He asked the parking attendant again to give him the keys and said he had lost his parking ticket. This time, however, one of the companions informed the beat staff. After seeing the police, he tried to escape but was finally caught, ”said the DCP.

During interrogation, he told police that he stole the Hyundai Creta on July 28th and parked it in the Doctor Lane Railway Colony. He was brought before a court in Delhi and detained for 14 days.
