Charging stations for electric vehicles have been installed in five parking garages in the Borough of Broxbourne.

The charging points are part of Broxbourne Borough Council’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

They were installed on Windmill Lane, Newham Parade and Bishops’ College in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

As well as on Taverners Way North, in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and Waltham Cross High Street.

Each parking lot has three loading units, each with two charging points.

In each multi-storey car park, six parking spaces are provided for the exclusive use of vehicles while the charging points are in use and are clearly marked.

As an introductory offer, the electricity can be used free of charge until midnight on January 16 and is available via the EB Go! mobile app afterwards.

The app can also be used for any other EB Energy charging point in the country.

There is no subscription fee and no minimum spend for the new EB points.

Depending on the vehicle used, these chargers offer a range of up to 48 km for each hour of charging. The usual parking fees continue to apply.

In the second phase of the program, chargers will be installed in four additional parking garages.

Councilor David Holliday, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “The council is committed to supporting sustainable living and I am delighted that these EV charging stations are now being used across the district.

“I hope that they will be used regularly by drivers who already own electric cars and that they will encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles.”
