Ford Focus gets important updates for 2022 | New Release – Car News Mar 2022

The Ford Focus is getting a range of important updates for 2022, with a fresh new look, petrol hybrid engines and improved infotainment. The new Ford Focus will go on sale in May and be priced from £22,965.

The fourth generation Ford Focus was launched in 2018 and rivals the Vauxhall Astra, Hyundai i30 and Mazda 3. To sharpen its appeal in 2022 Ford is giving all versions LED headlights as standard, while a new range of 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid engines promise improved power and lower running costs.

The Focus range starts with the standard 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine with 125PS. This engine is carried over from the old model and promises advertised fuel economy of 47.1 to 52.3mpg. You can also get the 1.0-liter petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid technology, which will recover energy under braking to improve fuel economy to 47.9 – 52.3mpg. Ford says the mild hybrid engine will also provide smoother performance and more torque.

A 155PS 1.0 EcoBoost mild hybrid petrol engine will also be available and return 49.6 to 53.3mpg. Most engines get a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a seven- and eight-speed automatic gearbox will also be available.

The 1.5 EcoBlue diesel has been carried over from the old Focus. This four-cylinder diesel engine produces 120PS and returns an official 56.5 to 61.4mpg.

The 2022 Focus gets a new front end with a redesigned bonnet and bumper. The Ford badge has been moved onto a new wider and taller grille, while the rear LED tail light clusters have also been streamlined with a new LED loop light signature.

Inside, the Focus gets Ford’s latest Sync4 infotainment technology with a 13.2-inch touchscreen. The heating and ventilation controls are now digital only, which means you adjust the heat or air con via the touch screen. Ford says the reduced button count will make the interior easier to use with less clutter from the traditional buttons or dials. The navigation features ‘live’ traffic and route updates. This means the sat nav will automatically reroute you if it detects a delay or problem on your journey.

The new 2022 Ford Focus will be available as a hatchback or estate. There will be eight trim levels to choose from including a rugged Active model and sporty ST hot hatch, with the latter featuring a powerful 280PS 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine that will cover 0-62mph in under six seconds.
