Ministers have come up with radical plans to reduce carbon emissions that would add hundreds of pounds to a car’s gasoline bills and running costs a year, The Times has learned.
The government plans to launch a CO2 reduction program that could increase the cost of gas and gasoline to decarbonise the economy.
The proposals could increase the average running cost of a gasoline car by more than £ 100 a year and the average gasoline bill by up to £ 170, nearly a third. According to the RAC Foundation, a driver who covers 10,000 miles per year spends £ 1,500 on gasoline.
