Live updates as multiple car accidents create roadblocks in the city

We bring you the latest updates as an accident involving multiple vehicles results in long delays in Liverpool.

The North West Motorway Police have confirmed that there are several cars on patrol on Speke Boulevard following a crash.

Additional patrols were also called for a second, non-contiguous crash in the Speke area on the special exit for the A5300 from the A562 Speke Road.

They said delays are expected later this morning as the cars involved are recovered.

A third crash was also reported on Ranelagh Street off Hanover Street. A witness told ECHO that a bus hit a barrier and diversions were in place.

Merseyside police also confirmed that they participated in the Speke crash.

A spokesman said: “We can confirm that officials are in Speke this morning, Tuesday October 19, after an RTC only for damage in Speke.

“We got a call around 7:45 am about a four-car collision at the intersection of Speke Boulevard and Penketh Drive.

“No injuries have been reported and the cars will be recovered. Thank you for your patience as we look into this incident.”
