An overturned car and oil spills resulted in traffic jams for nine miles.
One lane north on the A1 between A1 (M) J38 Red House (Redhouse, Doncaster) and A639 (Barnsdale Bar, Norton, Pontefract) was closed on Monday afternoon.

Highways England confirmed that lane one (of two) was closed at the scene of the crime at around 3:50 p.m. after an accident.
The South Yorkshire Police Department operational support team said traffic is currently heavy in both directions and that motorists should find another route for “at least four hours” while they clear the scene.
