Man crashes car in TV news van, police say

OAKLAND – Police arrested a man Saturday night after allegedly crashing his car into a television news van.

Oakland police tweeted at 10:06 p.m. that a silver BMW crashed into a news van on downtown Jefferson Street and on 14th. The suspect ran away from the scene on foot, but was detained just one block away.

The news van driver was taken to a local hospital, but his condition was unknown. The van was used by a crew from the television station KPIX.

The police did not provide any further details about the incident.
