When it is too expensive to buy an electric car, too wet to ride an e-bike and too dangerous to ride an e-scooter, the arrival of micro e-cars with a top speed of 28mph could herald “greener transport” that is right?

Citroën did not plan to sell the Ami in Britain, but its UK managing director, Eurig Druce, successfully argued that even the French left-hand-drive version would find eager buyers here, disillusioned with the first electric vehicles.

“An electric vehicle that costs £40,000 to £60,000 and weighs 2½ tonnes is not a solution,” he said. “As for bikes, people also need to be ready for a meeting, not requiring a shower or soaking wet from the weather.”
