Temporary closure of the Epiny Loop access road to the Tyne tunnel – bus traffic affected

Over the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December 2021, the Epiny Loop access road near the south portal to the Tyne Tunnel will be closed for maintenance and inspection purposes.
The Epiny Loop access road is the bridge over the connecting road that leads from the Jarrow A185 / Priory Road roundabout to the mouth of the Tyne Tunnel in a northerly direction at its south portal.
This blocking will be initiated on Friday, December 3rd at around 10:00 p.m. and will last until Monday, December 6th, around 6:00 a.m.
While this link is closed, the number 10 buses will have no choice but to divert to A185 / Priory Road (non-stop) from the Jarrow roundabout to travel south on the A19 to the Lindisfarne roundabout and then return north on the A19 turn into a countercurrent that carries traffic north through the tunnel south.
While this diversion does not miss any bus stops, buses in this area will be delayed due to the additional kilometers and possibly additional traffic movements, causing some consequential delays when traveling on lines 10, 11 and possibly. can also lead to some later evening trips on line 12 (with which the trips of lines 10 and 11 are operationally connected).
We will endeavor to minimize any interruptions or delays in service, however Stagecoach apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary road works and inevitable arrangements may cause and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding.
