Pensioner dies after car hits wall on main street in Welsh town

A pensioner died after a car hit a wall today, police have confirmed.

The 84-year-old elderly woman was rushed to Glan Clwyd Hospital for treatment in a single vehicle on Bagillt High Street in Flintshire following the accident.

North Wales Live reported that the road was partially blocked in both directions after the collision near a church just before noon. North Wales Police later confirmed her death around 4:15 p.m.

The troop issued the following statement: “After an RTC (Road Traffic Accident) in the High Street, Bagillt, we can unfortunately confirm today that an 84 year old woman has died.

“The road remains closed and the lady’s next of kin have been informed.

“We are currently unable to provide further details.”

Ambulance crews, fire brigade and police were called to the incident. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while emergency services were working on site.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11:57 am this morning, Friday April 16, for reports of a collision with a single traffic on the high street in Bagillt.

“We responded with an advanced paramedic practitioner and an ambulance.

“One patient was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital for further treatment.”

The North Wales Police also called their Forensic Collision Investigation Unit for further investigation on the spot.

Inrix, the traffic reporting service, says the road has since been reopened.
