Police give update after body found in hospital car park

A POST mortem on the body of a man found in a car at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, on Friday (April 22) has proved inconclusive.

West Midlands Police have confirmed the examination confirmed there were no obvious signs of injury and no evidence to suggest the 56-year-old, from Kingstanding, had been assaulted despite a murder investigation having been launched initially.

A 43-year-old man from Tamworth was arrested in connection with the investigation but he has now been released without charge, police have confirmed.

The force said the man’s death, however, remains “officially unexplained” and police inquiries will continue.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police added: “Further tests will take place in due course which hopefully will explain what led to the man’s death.

“One of our specially trained family liaison officers is supporting the man’s loved ones.”
