A suspected alcohol driver who smashed a car is fortunate enough not to have caused serious injuries.
The Gwent Police Department reminded the public of the dangers of drink-driving following an incident on the evening of October 1; No serious injuries were caused, but the driver of the car was arrested.
A spokesman for the emergency services said: “This is the result of drink-driving, luckily there were no serious injuries.
“The driver of this car was arrested last night [October 1] if you suspect you are drunk driving and driving without due care and attention.
“Blood samples have been taken and awaiting analysis.”
Research suggests that there are five main factors – known as the “fatal five” – that have the potential to cause major road accidents.
These are:
- Driving recklessly
- Alcohol and drugs behind the wheel
- Not buckled up
- Use a cell phone
- Over speeding
Individuals who perform these acts put themselves – and others – in danger and risk legal action.
