Mayhill: Shocking footage shows cars on fire

Adam Romain’s house was targeted last week during the shocking civil unrest in Swansea, South Wales. A gang of teenagers threw bricks at the windows and showered Adam’s crib with glass in a terrible ordeal.

The disturbing footage, recorded Adam’s motorcycle helmet camera shows the 34-year-old father asking the police for help as flames can come from his car parked outside.

A loud bang can be heard before Adam yells to his children and partner, “Get away from the windows”. Then he adds, “It will be fine, my son, it will be fine.”

Adam then calls the police before shouting “Oh my god” after a brick is thrown through the front window and screams can be heard around the house.

Adam, an Uber Eats driver, told Wales Online that he intended to move his family away from Swansea as a result of the incident.

We want to go somewhere else, we’ll just leave Swansea completely, that’s the main focus. I can no longer sit in this living room while my children are playing there with the thought that at some point a brick might come through the window

Adam is on the phone on the clip and says, “The riot, they started targeting my house, I have two kids in the house, you can hear me, the Waun-wen riot they are targeting my house, they are throwing bricks through my house. “

“What’s going on?” Replies the woman.

“They throw bricks at my house, I have two children inside, please come. There is a mob outside, they throw stones, bricks, three cars are burning. Come on quickly, I have two children in one of them is a baby, them throw bricks through my window, my car is outside my house and is on fire. “

A brick is then thrown through the front door.

“I have bricks thrown at me, what should I do?”

“I want you to take yourself away from the window,” adds the woman.

A video taped around 11:30 p.m. later on the evening of the riot shows Uber Eats driver Adam Romain approaching officers in a van before simply asking, “Where were the police?”

In the video footage Mr. Romain can be heard asking the officer: “Where were you, why weren’t you here, what excuse do you have for showing up three hours later? I had to stand there and pick bricks while my baby was in the house. Where were you? ”The police can then be seen driving away from the scene.

The meeting was originally organized as a tribute to Ethan Powell, 19, who collapsed and later died after playing his beloved Swansea City in a championship play-off against Barnsley.

And the scenes saddened Adam, who moved to the area in 2017 with his partner and children, who are currently four and one years old.

He said, “We want to go somewhere else, we’re just going to leave Swansea completely, that’s the main focus. I can no longer sit in this living room and my children are playing there with the thought that a brick might come through the living room.” Window at any point in time. Especially now that I’ve placed myself there, I’m more recognized now, we fear that there will be some level of retaliation in the future.

“”[We’re] try to distract the kids and put the pieces back together.

“My partner can take it, she’ll find the strength to carry on somewhere. I haven’t gone to work in the last few days, she’s too scared that I can go out at the moment. All kinds of emotions are flying around, poor people The lady next to me was petrified, absolutely petrified. Everyone is afraid for their children, some people have already left. It’s understandable.

“I can’t make my kids anymore, I can’t risk it. What makes it worse is that just two months ago we had a pretty bad event when someone threw a car down the hill through the barrier and into smashed two cars. “

South Wales Police were asked to comment on the new footage at Adam’s house, including why he had not received a visit from the police at the time of the incident or a few hours later. But WalesOnline was referred to an interview Deputy Police Chief Jenny Gilmer gave on Friday May 21 when she responded to questions she was asked about the force’s response to the major disturbance in Swansea.

The chief officer said about 60 officers were present at the scene “at the peak” and stayed “all night”.
