An update from Devon and Cornwall Police at 8:20 pm confirmed that officers are still on site to investigate the accident and they have no indication of when the road will reopen.
They said, “Police were called to Pentire Road in Newquay at 3:20 pm after reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle.
“A man is said to have been seriously injured and the incident is ongoing.”
The entire Pentire area remains inaccessible as the road is closed from the Gannel Road / Mount Wise / Pentire Road / Higher Tower Road roundabout.
Traffic Intelligence Service Inrix Says: “Pentire Road is closed in both directions for accident investigation between A392 (Penpol) and Pentire Avenue (Newquay).”
Pentire Road leads to Newquays Esplanade, Pentire Headland, Lewinnick Lodge, Hotel California and the popular Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa.
Alternative routes are not available, and Newquay Town Center Neighborhood Beat Manager, Police Constable Sheri Nel, said the road “is likely to remain closed for some time”.
