Three men were convicted of the murder of a promising 18-year-old boxer after a car chase.

Cole Kershaw, 18, was shot in the chest on August 12 last year on Chesham Road in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Kamran Mohammed, 19, Mohammed Izaarh Khan, 21 and Khayam Ali Khurshid, 29, were found guilty of murder in Manchester Crown Court on Friday.

The trio, all of Bury, were also convicted of possessing a firearm to endanger life.

The court heard that Mr Kershaw was shot dead while trying to run away from a car accident after a car chase.

He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Prosecutors said he was killed in an “ongoing argument” between Mohammed and Kershaw’s friend Spencer Woods.

The court heard that a Ford Mondeo carrying Mr Kershaw, Mr Woods and three others was being chased down Bury’s streets by a silver BMW 5 Series.

During the chase, shots were fired from the BMW in which Mohammed, Khan and Khurshid were driving.

When the two cars crashed, Mr. Kershaw and four others got out of the Mondeo and fled.

Mohammed fired another shot from the BMW, which hit Mr. Kershaw in the side of the chest and damaged the main artery of his heart.

Mr Kershaw, a promising boxer who trained at the Brickcity Boxing Gym in Bury, was not seen as an intended target, according to judges.

During the trial, Mohammed claimed he fired the shots to “scare” Mr. Kershaw, Mr. Woods, and others.

He said he acquired a pistol for his own protection a few hours before the murder after he was allegedly attacked by Mr. Woods two days earlier.

But the jury denied his report and sentenced him to murder after a five-week trial.

After the shooting, Mohammed called a friend Raheem Hall, who took him to buy gasoline before the BMW 5 Series got out.

Hall could be heard saying, “I shot someone. I have to have a gasoline bath and burn my clothes. ‘

When someone asked Mohammed if he was responsible for Mr. Kershaw’s death, he said, “He deserves it.”

A few days later Mohammed was heard saying to someone, “I fired two shots and the third hit him. The wrong person was shot. ‘

All three defendants denied the murder, although Mohammed pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Heywood, 19-year-old Hall was found guilty of owning a firearm to endanger life.

He had previously pleaded guilty to helping a perpetrator.

All four men will be sentenced on April 16.
