Two people were injured in a crash involving a motorbike and a car earlier today. The road was closed to traffic in both directions while emergency services teams tended to the casualties and cleared the scene.
The incident, in Fosse Road North in Newfoundpool, happened shortly before 10am. The crash initially resulted in the southbound lane being blocked but the closure was soon expanded to the rest of the road.
Traffic had to be redirected onto surrounding roads as emergency services dealt with the incident. The car park for the Lidl store, near the scene, which was also inaccessible.

The owner of a mobile phone repairs shop in the area told LeicestershireLive he heard “a big and the sound of a motorbike revving” before seeing the aftermath of the incident moments later. He said two people had been on the motorbike.
“One woman [at the scene] Seemed fine but a man was injured and on the floor,” he said. “The road was busy, as per usual, before the crash.” The number of passengers on the motorbike at the time of the incident was not confirmed by emergency services .
A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service crew that had been at a separate incident nearby attended the scene. A spokesperson for the fire service said it was called to assist at the request of East Midlands Ambulance Service.
They later confirmed that two casualties were reported, “with some minor injuries”. A spokesperson added: “Crews were waiting for the ambulance and highways to arrive.”
The crash also resulted in some fuel spillage in the road which was later cleared. The road reopened shortly before 12pm and traffic returned to normal.
