Brian Laundrie Search Update: Did the Police Find His Car?

Gabby Petito’s friend Brian Laundrie’s attorney announced, according to The New York Post, that his family found a note on his car in Florida.

Laundrie’s attorney Steven Bertolino said the police left a note on his car parked near the Carlton Reservation in Sarasota County, Florida.

  • The notice written by the police called for the car to be removed.
  • However, the family decided to leave the vehicle there until Thursday, September 16, in the hopes that it would return there.

Officials are still looking for Laundrie, who has been missing since Sept. 14. His family notified North Port Florida police that Laundrie was missing on Friday.

Laundrie and Petito took a cross-country road trip this summer that included visits to places in Utah like Mystic Hot Springs and Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, and Arches National Parks.

Laundrie returned to North Port, Florida on September 1 without a Petito. Ten days later, Petito was reported missing and a nationwide search began. On Sunday the FBI announced they had found human remains outside a national park in Wyoming that matched Petito’s description. A full forensic analysis will be conducted on Tuesday to determine the cause of death.

After Laundrie disappeared, authorities began looking for Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve in Florida. The search ended Monday due to swampy and rainy conditions in the area.

North Port Police and FBI agents will now return to Carlton Reserve on Tuesday. The FBI will lead the investigation with the North Port Police, who are supporting the case.
