The Ford Fiesta has been updated for 2021 with a new look, additional technology and a choice of two new mild hybrid engines.
The look hasn’t changed much, the Ford badge in the center of the Fiesta’s grille (not above) marks this as the 2021 model.
You’ll also get unique styling cues depending on which version you choose – Trend and Titanium cars are chrome-plated, ST-Line models have glossy black trim, and Active models are in keeping with their soft roader status slightly clunkier features.
Bigger changes happen inside. You can now have a 12.3-inch digital instrument that adds a sense of modernity, while the sporty ST model gets new, more heavily padded front seats that look great.
Titan, ST-Line and Active models can be upgraded with the Vignale package, which is equipped with soft upholstery, carbon fiber-like trim and 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
You also get new safety features like Wrong Way Alert, which warns you if you are trying to drive on the wrong side of a motorway. You also get an active cruise control that reads speed limits and automatic parking.
Ford has expanded the range to include two new mild hybrid engines with 125 or 155 hp.
These devices have a large starter that plugs into a 48V power supply. It can activate the start-stop system when the vehicle is still rolling and give it an electric boost when it starts off. It also means the Fiesta can roll at high speeds. The result? A 10 percent improvement in fuel consumption.
The 125-horsepower model with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (a six-speed manual is standard) can return 45 mpg and produces 117 g / km of CO2. Or the same as the slower 100PS model without the mild hybrid technology.
The new Fiesta is on sale now and costs £ 16,620, £ 25 less than the outgoing car. The kicker? The cars are not expected to be delivered to their owners until 2022.
