A six car accident on the M6 near Preston is causing significant delays tonight.
All traffic was temporarily interrupted on the southbound carriageway between J31A and J31 as the emergency services are dealing with the incident.
It was first reported around 4:45 p.m.
Highways England initially closed two lanes, but then closed traffic to the south while the vehicles and debris could be cleared.
Delays of up to 60 minutes are reported in the region.
It comes just hours after a car and truck collision on the M6 southbound between J28 and 27 that killed a man in his twenties.
