Police appeal after cars set on fire in Gainsborough | news

It’s after multiple fires over the past month that police believe were started on purpose

Police have asked for information again after another car was deliberately set on fire in Gainsborough last night.

The officers were called to Apley Close at 3:56 a.m. and found a Ford Focus on fire.

It’s just the latest in a series of incidents where cars have been destroyed.

A Seat Ibiza was deliberately set on fire in Sandsfield Lane on April 10th.

Then on the 18th, three vehicles were set on fire on Trinity Street.

On the 20th, a van was fired again at Sandsfield Lane. A car was also destroyed on the same street.

The very next day, nine truck trailers were damaged in a fire on Learoyd Road in Hemswell Cliff. A fire was also started at Caenby Cliff.

Police say they don’t believe the fires are a “series” but the incidents may be linked.

Inspector Gary Brockie of Lincolnshire Police in West Lindsey said, “Every incident is under a full investigation and these investigations are ongoing.”

“Neighborhood officials are working with the local community to identify and explore every opportunity to identify and arrest the perpetrators.”

“With the support of our Specialist Operations Team, increased patrols are being carried out in the region.”

“We are working with colleagues from partner agencies like Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and West Lindsey District to try to identify everyone involved,” he added.
