The 56-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, money laundering and possession of a controlled drug.

He was taken to a Merseyside police station for questioning by detectives and is on remand.

Detective Inspector Jennifer Beck said, “This was a major arrest by our officers that foiled suspected money laundering and drug use in our community.

“Our officers will continue to proactively monitor our streets to disrupt criminals who are using our streets to transport illegal drugs and criminal assets around Merseyside.

“Please contact us if you think someone is using or supplying drugs near where you live, so that we can take similar action and stop the spread of illegal drugs that could endanger lives in your area.”
