Alpine’s future may look electrifying, but the heavily gasoline-powered A110 sports car will continue until new projects are added.
And this could be the best option of all worlds. It’s the Legende GT 2021, a limited edition that combines the more powerful 1.8-liter 4-cylinder turbo with 288 hp from the A110S with the softer appearance of the Legende GT.
This is Alpine that is as classy as possible, and as such, there are only two color options – matte mercury with black Sabelt seats or Abyss Blue with brown Sabelts. Both “immerse the occupants in an indoor environment that is unmistakably GT,” we were told, although it looks like the crappy infotainment system hasn’t suddenly had a technological restart.
The GT 2021 will help differentiate your car from the outside – aside from those fancy colors – and will receive a slew of light gold badges and new 18-inch diamond-cut Grand Prix wheels with gold calipers peeking through the spokes. The taillights are now also translucent.
While its 1,134 kg curb weight is a plus for other Alps, it’s still lighter than most fiestas, giving the GT 2021 a 4.4 second time between 0 and 62 mph and a top speed of 155 mph.
Only 300 pieces are sold in Europe. Price is £ 61,655 including a rear view camera and the upgraded Focal stereo. Not far from the 6cyl Cayman GTS 4.0 from Porsche. Eek.
