The driver is lucky after the car fell on the roof in an accident in Wigan

One driver managed an incredibly happy escape after his car fell on the roof in an accident in Wigan.

At 8:22 p.m. on Saturday evening (May 1), officials were called in to report a crash on Lockett Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Greater Manchester police told the Manchester Evening News that the accident only affected the one vehicle pictured on the roof – a red Ford Fiesta.

Remarkably, the male driver escaped the accident without serious injuries and was not taken to the hospital, even though the incident looks so serious.

GMP Wigan officers shared the picture of the battered Ford Fiesta, believed to be more than 20 years old, on social media after the collision.

The front end of the car appears to have been completely destroyed after the accident, while a wing mirror has come off the side of the vehicle and an airbag can be deployed through the window.

Two officers inspect the wreck, which was located near the Stagecoach Wigan bus depot on Lockett Lane.

No arrests were made after the Saturday night incident, GMP has confirmed to MEN

In a post posted on social media late Saturday night, Wigan police suggested that the collision was due to a “lack of talent”.

A GMP Wigan spokesperson said: “Lockett Road, Ashton in Makerfield.

“Fortunately no serious injuries, just a sign of a lack of talent.

“Vehicle recovered now.”
